Read-a-Thons in May 2018

Heres a list of a few, but not all, Read-a-Thons happening during the end of April and throughout May (I can’t believe it’s already May). If you plan on participating in any of these or in one I haven’t listed please let me know! Since this post is late I have removed the read-a-thons that have finished or only have a couple days left.

Seasonal Series Read-a-Thon*: March 20th. – June 20th.

During March 20th through June 20th the Seasonal Series Read-a-thon a 3-month long Read-a-Thon that is focusing on knocking out the many books in a series that are on your TBR! For specific details please read the Read-a-Thon guidelines HERE.

I posted a TBR post and will be posting monthly updates on my progress throughout the Read-a-Thon.

Pet Sitting Read-a-thon*: April 28th – May 13th.

This is the impromptu read-a-thon that I created to fill my time while I’m dog sitting for 2 whole weeks.

Read a comic book paperback
Read a borrowed book
Read a book that has been on your shelf for too long

Moody May: May 1st – May 31st.

This read-a-thon is dedicated to reading moody books! Check out the site for more information on the rules of the read-a-thon.

EmptyShelfie: May 1st – May 31st.

This is a month-long read-a-thon with the theme Camping. The whole point of this read-a-thon, as it suggests, is to read your personal book collection. They are posting challenges on their twitter throughout the read-a-thon.

Disney Read-a-Long: May 6th – May 12th.

Frozen – Read a book that’s set during winter
Dory – Read a book you forgot you owned
Aurora’s Dress – Read a book with pink and blue on the cover
Huey, Dewey, and Louie – read a book that’s apart of a trilogy
Cinderella – Read the original fairytale (by Brothers Grimm) and watch the Disney animated film

Buzzword Read-a-thon: May 7th – May 13th.

This read-a-thon is a recurring read-a-thon that focuses on a buzzword that is found on an overwhelming number of book titles. This month’s buzzword is “Girl”. BooksandLala posted a video going into more detail on what the read-a-thon is all about and how to follow along during the week

This is a recurring read-a-thon with monthly themes. This month’s theme is re-reads with the challenge of graphic novels.

Borrowathon: May 20th – 27th.

This is a week-long read-a-thon encouraging you to borrow books while following challenges

A book award nominee or winner
A book with your initials on the cover
Someone else’s favorite book
A book that everyone else has read but you
A book from your favorite genre
A book that features a library

Sob-a-Thon: May 21st to May 27th

Read a book on your TBR that you’ve been putting off because you know it’ll make you too emotional
Read a book that will make you cry from happiness
Re-read a book that destroyed your emotions
Read a book under 300 pages
Read the group book – The Astonishing Color of After by Emily XR Pan

Duodecathon: May 21st to May 27th.

This is a recurring read-a-thon that happens at the end of every month. During the week you pick one of the 12 challenges so when the year is up you have completed every challenge.

Read 1,200 pages
Read the second book in a series
A book about a villain/antihero
A book published the year you were born
A 2018 bestseller
An award-winning book
A book with multiple points of view
A book with antonyms in the title
A banned book
A book with a great first line
A “high school” book you haven’t read
A book recommended by someone in the Duodecathon group (on Goodreads)

Series Crackdown: May 25rd – June 3rd.

This is a 10-day read-a-thon focused on doing damage to your un-read series. This read-a-thon does have a sign-up link on twitter.

Finish a book you put down because it was out of your comfort zone
